    Love For All
New brewery offers balanced beers with lots of heart that everyone can fancy. Just a brief bike ride away. Enjoy in the Falls this June! Love City is a Callowhill brewery with a local connection - they made their world debut with the EF Beer Garden last April, thanks to Jill Dougherty, whose brother Mike Tramontana is a linchpin in this new craft beer operation.

    Rescue on Ridge
A historic designation could be on the way for a favorite landmark at Ridge and Midvale. Last fall's demolition of the beautiful old "Catfish Cafe" building on Scotts Lane sent local preservationists into overdrive. In particular, the stock green Mason's building in the heart of our riverfront district seemed particularly vulnerable, with its caving roof and rickety fire escape.

April's a time of showers, pranks, and more importantly BEER! Yes, my Falls friends this is that special time of year when we once again venture outside to enjoy the beauty of our exquisite neighborhood, hopefully whilst sipping on an alcoholic libation. It's also a time when many brewers start releasing great seasonal selections.

Fallen Trees? FOW Volunteer Sawyers to the Rescue

Ever wonder how fallen trees are cleared from trails? Tree falls are an unfortunate and common occurrence in the Wissahickon, and most park users have seen the impact of large fallen canopy trees throughout the park, which sometimes block the very trail on which they are hiking. What to do? Climb over? Under? Go around? Turn back? Depending on the situation, options can be limited and often hazardous.

Arboretum Cleanup Day at Mifflin School Saturday, April 7, 2018 10 AM to 2 PM Mifflin School Grounds Midvale Avenue, opposite RiteAid The Arboretum is the wooded area of the school grounds along Midvale Avenue. It was created by the WPA during the 1930s, with trees, boulders and paths. For the past 10 years, East Falls Community Council has worked to restore it, removing truckloads of dead branches, invasive plants, and debris. Join us on April 7 as Friends of Mifflin School (an initiative of EFCC) continues this project. We'll provide gloves and tools. On March 26, a male cat turned up on my property (Penn Street, near McMichael Park), no collar, limping and a bit dirty and very hungry - and very friendly. I have taken him to the vet, and he is not microchipped. He is a very patient, friendly boy, neutered, and the vet estimates he is about 5 years old; he weighed a bit over 9 lbs. I believe this cat has an owner who misses him very much. He is in good health; the limping was from something stuck in his paw, which the vet removed. If you are missing a cat, or your neighbor has been looking for his/her cat, please let me know; and please ask around. (East Falls Townwatch is not happy about posters being put up, so I have limited them to the immediate area.) Thanks!
