Philip Duffy let 57 immigrants be forgotten in a mass grave, then his burial site was forgotten, too. Until now
Duffy’s grave — which was not marked with a tombstone — was recently pinpointed at the cemetery at St. Anne’s Parish, on East Lehigh Avenue and Memphis Street in Port Richmond, thanks to work from the Saint Anne Historical Committee and other researchers.
The weekend kicks off with the Riverwards Run at 9:30 a.m. on North 5th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue. The numbers are in! We had 44 volunteers across four locations for the Spring Clean Up! They cleaned up 87 bags of trash, 4 tires, a pile of wood, a pile of rocks and one mattress. Thank you to our volunteers for helping keep our neighborhood clean and green!

Join us at the Richmond Library next Saturday, 4/28 at noon for a FREE session focusing on healthy and affordable cooking for families, presented by the Free Library's Culinary Literacy Center with guest Fran Alloway! Fran Alloway is a registered dietitian who enjoys working with all ages, from Moms-to-be, our adorable babies taking their first bites to making sure that seniors are eating what they need to stay healthy. She has written curriculum for Penn State Extension, appeared on local cable stations discussing topics from feeding fussy eaters to diabetes diets and presently is a nutrition consultant with Maternity Care Coalition and the Early Head Start program. As usual, our awesome Hackett community came out and put their all into beautifying our school. What a great day! Thank you to all the tireless souls that gave up their weekend routines to put in hard labor on this beautiful Saturday. The bathrooms, auditorium stage, and schoolyard garden look amazing!!
