Good Thursday morning! The sunshine returns today with temperatures rising well into the 60s to even 70 degrees for much of the region this afternoon. There will be a breeze though through the day. Showers return for Friday with cooler temperatures, then some additional showers on Saturday. Looking farther out, cooler on Sunday then a significant warm up is expected with mid/upper 70s to low 80s in the forecast for many areas Tuesday and Wednesday.

While most of the region has dried out late this afternoon and evening, a few spots have received locally heavy rainfall from slow-moving showers and storms: (1) southern Delaware and adjacent portions of eastern Maryland and (2) the southern New Jersey Pine Barrens. Flood Advisories are in effect for both areas. Radar estimates of 1-3" of rain has fallen, resulting in poor drainage flooding.

Showers are beginning to form in southern Delaware and eastern Maryland. These should continue to form and move northeast into the rest of the area through the afternoon and continue through the evening. Some thunder is possible but severe weather is not expected. Fog has lifted for the most part but still lingers along the immediate coast. Conditions should continue to improve through the afternoon.

***Evening Update*** Rain continues to gradually overspread the region from southwest to northeast and will continue to do so through this evening. The rain could be heavy at times overnight and while we are not expecting any widespread, major problems, localized urban and small stream flooding could occur in a few spots. The heaviest rain tapers off Wednesday morning but some showers may return by afternoon. Thursday will feature a respite with sunshine and relatively warm temperatures before the next system could bring some more rain by Friday. In the longer range, the outlook heading into next week is for mainly dry and progressively warmer weather!
