Director’s Notebook: Strategic Blueprint 2018-2020

What is Wissahickon Valley Park? This is the question we posed at a public meeting in January of this year, part of a public dialogue that helped us determine what is achievable for FOW’s Strategic Blueprint 2018-2020.  Through this meeting and the entire process of developing the Blueprint, we learned that the Wissahickon is not simply a nature preserve, a woodland, a forest, an urban park, or a watershed park. It is all these things and more.

Hello,
My wife and I have been living in the area since April of '17, and have really enjoyed it so far.
We're currently in need of childcare for our 2 year old daughter, and are hoping that someone on here can offer some suggestions.
The barriers we keep finding are that most places are booked for the next year of two.
Most places are out of our budget. The last daycare was charging us $720 a month for 3 full days a week.
We're hoping to keep it around that amount, if somehow possible.
Some things we are open to are nanny shares, in-home childcare, or our child going to someones house (references and background checks, of course).
If you can help out, know someone who can, or a childcare center in the area, please let us know.
Happy New Year!

Dear Volunteers,

Streetscapes Tree Planting Update - Pics and Thank You!
Dear Volunteers, Thanks to your great work, West Mount Airy has 20 new trees. Thirty-three volunteers in five planting crews got all the trees in the ground before the rain started around noon. Only one group ran into difficulties, but with tenacity found a spot without boulders for their final tree.

On Tuesday 12/5/17, The Committee on Rules of...

On Tuesday 12/5/17, The Committee on Rules of City Council will hold a Public Hearing at 10:00 AM in City Hall, Room 400, to hear testimony on Bill 17082. This is the much anticipated Ordinance to establish a temporary Demolition Moratorium (entitled 'Historical Preservation') with respect to properties in the area of Ridge Ave. between Wissahickon Creek and Northwestern Ave. Written testimony from the 21st Ward RCO's (Registered Community Organizations) will be entered into the record and we expect two representatives from our groups will be permitted to speak. HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! All you have to do is attend! We want to fill the seats! Your attendance will speak volumes to City officials. Councilman Jones has walked along The Ridge with RCO representatives and understands our concerns. We are most grateful to him and his staff for drafting this ordinance. See you there!
