Comcast Cares and our Stewardship Office volunteer their Saturday to rake, clean, mulch, remove debris and even donate a picnic table to the facility. Our tennis courts, basketball courts, play areas/sidewalks and sprayground, as well as Fairmount Park trails, have never looked better. If you know how far our facility property extends, you realize how much energy and effort this cleanup took. A HUGE thank you to Comcast!

We are looking forward to a very busy day on Thursday, April 19th. We have three great events for you to enjoy! We will start our morning off with a very special One Book Every Young Child Storytime at 10:30 am featuring the book, "My Cousin MoMo." We will give out a free book to families attending and will have fun with activities from the OBEYC Traveling Trunk. At 3:30 to 5:30 in our lobby, come by and participate in the Friends of Wynnefield Library Book and Bake Sale. There will be great books and delicious treats to buy for a great price. At 4 pm, representatives from PGW will be here as guests for our monthly Ready Community meeting sponsored by the Office of Emergency Management. Come out and ask questions and receive vital information. Hope to see you on April 19th!!

We truly were inspired at Wynnefield Library this past Monday night. We welcomed acclaimed author Lorene Cary to read from and discuss her book, "If Sons, Then Heirs." We had a candid and thought-provoking conversation about topics including the realities and significance of lynchings, family traditions that are instilled and passed on through generations, and those that are let go; the effects of the great migration, and the acceptance and recognition of African American Literature. Thanks to Kalela Williams,Director of Neighborhood Library Enrichment Programming for arranging this event; and to our Friends of Wynnefield Library member, Terri Jones, who was our luminous moderator. Special thanks to Ms Lorene Cary for such an enlightening journey into the depths of what truly defines a family.
