"The Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia, which handles the city's animal control efforts, is joining with the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society and the Pennsylvania SPCA to create the "Philadelphia No-Kill Coalition." The coalition will seek to end the killing of healthy, treatable and manageable cats and dogs in Philadelphia, which saved about 82 percent of cats and dogs that entered ACCT last year. That's a stark contrast from 2005, when about 89 percent of animals were euthanized. "

How to avoid frozen pipes in this deep freeze
You'll want to keep your warmest coats out and pick up some logs for your fireplace this week, because this deep freeze isn't going anywhere. But something you definitely don't want to forget are your pipes, as meteorologists have said that homeowners should be on guard for possible freezing.

Stream Smart House Calls | Improved Stormwater Management
Stormwater runoff is water from rain or melting snow that "runs off" across the land instead of seeping into the ground. This runoff usually flows into the nearest stream, creek, river, lake or ocean without being treated.
