    Fairmount landmarks Bridgid's and Rembrandt's coming back
    Two Fairmount landmarks are on their way back. Reopening May 16 is Bridgid's at 24th and Meredith Streets, under new owner Jose Vargas. Chris Ryan, who opened it 29 years ago, closed it in February and sold the bricks to a partnership. Vargas says he will maintain the name and the general neighborhood-bar ambiance.

Police: Man, woman each shot 3 times in the head in North Philadelphia

Officers were called to the 2500 block of North Palethorp Street around 1:30 p.m.

    Police say a man and a woman were both found shot three times in the head on Tuesday in North Philadelphia. Officers were called to the 2500 block of North Palethorp Street around 1:30 p.m. The victims, a 51-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, were rushed to the hospital.

Hit-and-run driver strikes patrol car in Kensington

Police traced the Infiniti's license plate to a house on the 2300 block of Palethorp Street.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday along B Street and Allegheny Avenue.

Part of the striking vehicle's bumper was found in the 3200 block of Rosehill Street.

The driver was not at the home, but officers found the Infiniti parked nearby at A and Venango streets.

Back in January, the city shut down one of Damaghi’s buildings – a warehouse with 50 business tenants at 2066 West Hunting Park Ave. – after finding that its many fire, plumbing and building violations presented “a threat to life and safety.”

And this week, the city took Damaghi to court for more than 100 violations on his other properties, including yet another warehouse – at 3039 B St., that L&I described as a “potential death trap” because of its “trove” of fire-code violations and lack of zoning and use permits.
