During our recycling program we meet people who want to recycle, but are sometimes doing it wrong. As much as we'd like to maximize what we can recycle the following list is a list for curbside recycling program in Philadelphia (per the Sanitation Dept.- though the "tips" are FOPP's): What to Keep OUT of the Bin These materials have little or no value as raw materials, damage recycling equipment, and can even injure workers. Please leave them out! * Plastic Bags (Tip - many supermarkets and some retail stores accept plastic bags for recycling) * Styrofoam™ Food/Beverage Containers and Shipping/Packing Material (Tip - the Street Department's Satiation Convenience Centers will take Styrofoam, but is must be clean and in a clear plastic bag) * Food Waste * Wet or Food-Soiled Paper * Waxed Paper Plates, Cups, and Takeout Containers * Greasy Pizza Boxes *Tissues, Paper Towels, and Napkins * Light Bulbs * Porcelain and Non-Container Glass * Cassette Tapes (VHS and audio) * Garden Hoses * Needles and Syringes * Electronics (Tip - the Sanitation Convenience Center will take TVs, computer monitors and other computer related equipment at no charge. Best Buy stores will take some small electronics - check their website for details)

POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH December, 2017 P/...

POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH December, 2017 P/O John Connors #3292 P/O Pablo Rivera #1944 On Tuesday, December 12 Officers Connors and Rivera were working a plain clothes assignment when they responded to the 8400 block of Verree Road for a radio call of a person with a gun. Upon arrival at the location, the officers met with a female complainant. She stated that her upstairs neighbor was in the hallway calling her name. The complainant opened her door and the male neighbor came into her apartment. The male was holding a shotgun. The male was waving the shotgun and screaming that he was going to kill everyone in the apartment. The male left the complainant’s apartment and went back upstairs to his apartment. Officers Connors and Rivera were then informed by the suspect’s daughter that she had retrieved the shotgun from the apartment. She gave the officers the shotgun, which was loaded with one live round. She gave the officers permission to enter the upstairs apartment, which she shares with the offender. The officers arrested the offender without incident. The offender was charged with Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Terroristic Threats and related charges. As a result of this arrest, a dangerous offender was removed from the streets. We are proud to recognize these officers as Police Officers of the Month for December, 2017. http://7thpdac.com/police_officer_of_the_month
