(Cross-posted to next door!) Hey Neighbors! If you were at the most recent EFCC meeting you may remember me (MaryAlice Duff) I'm the events person on the committee tasked with helping to organize EFCC sponsored events. I'm still pretty new here to East Falls (I mean I've only lived here three years) but I definitely call this neighborhood my home. I'm seeking to build a small group of individuals interested in participating in an active events subcommittee so that we can put together successful community events that are attended by and enjoyed by our neighbors. Being a part of this group would mean assisting in the development, planning and day-of tasks that lead up to hosting a successful event. This would definitely be a hands on volunteer opportunity! If you have any interest or simply have more questions feel free to email me at maryalice.duff@gmail.com Thank you!

Twenty Years that Changed Philly

With so much historic architecture in NW Philly, it’s easy to take our scenery for granted. Joseph Minardi explains how our city grew into such distinct neighborhoods so worthy of preservation today.

    Twenty Years that Changed Philly
With so much historic architecture in NW Philly, it's easy to take our scenery for granted. Joseph Minardi explains how our city grew into such distinct neighborhoods so worthy of preservation today. Philadelphia has been around for over three centuries, but there was a two-decade period that transformed the city into an industrial powerhouse and spurred a huge growth spurt in the city's population.

There and Back Again: The Upper Parking Lot Loop - Friends of Wissahickon
By John Holback There are approximately 50 miles of trails in the Wissahickon Park. Three trails (Orange, White, and Yellow) run parallel to the creek for more or less the whole length of the park, while two smaller trail networks (The Lavender Trails and the Andorra Trails) fill in some of the gaps.

Say Cheese, Speeders!

Pam Delissio & EF Traffic Committee propose speed cameras on Henry from Allegheny to Andorra.

    Say Cheese, Speeders!
It's a predictable and indisputable fact: speed kills. The faster a vehicle is moving when it crashes, the more severe the consequences. Our own Henry Avenue is a danger zone: since 2011, there've been more than 350 traffic crashes, and at least 7 fatalities.

Protecting Your Pet’s Skin in Cold Weather

Some tips for keeping your pets comfortable when the temps dip.

Protecting Your Pet's Skin in Cold Weather
Frigid temperatures are here which means we must take some extra precautions with our pets. As we crank up the heat in our homes, the dry air can negatively affect the skin on our dogs and cats. Some pets are much more sensitive to the dry air than others and will develop dry, flaky skin in the winter.
