Share what you want in your schools On Novemb...

Share what you want in your schools On November 16, the School Reform Commission (SRC) voted to dissolve itself and, following certification by the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, we will begin the return to a locally-appointed board. As the city continues the process of returning the School District of Philadelphia to local control, one of Mayor Kenney’s priorities is to ensure that all Philadelphians are heard. Following the City’s Charter that was approved by voters in 1999, Mayor Kenney will appoint an Educational Nominating Panel in January. This panel’s role will be to identify candidates for the new Board of Education for Philadelphia schools. The Mayor is making a call to all Philadelphians to share their priorities with the City. This information will help inform the types of Philadelphians who should be on the future Board of Education and what their focus should be. Please share your thoughts here: www.phila.gov/LocalControlSurvey
