This article has very good information. Nobody wants to have a fire in their home and a smoke alarm can save your life. As the wife of a PFD Liuetenant, i have heard heart breaking stories about loss of property and loss of life. All homes should have working smoke alarms. Please call 311 and put in a request for a free 10 year smoke alarm that will be installed by your local firehouse. If you have elderly or disabled neighbors, please try to check to see if their smoke alarms work. If they don’t, put in a 311 request or email this page and i can see what can be done to get a smoke alarm.

How to survive: Rowhouse or high-rise fire
The Philadelphia Fire Department responds to at least 44,000 fire calls each year, ranging from small kitchen fires to high-rise blazes. In 2017, there were 20 fire fatalities in the city. Already this year, there have been more than a dozen fire fatalities, including a Philadelphia firefighter.

Pennsylvania's auditor general wants to stop a planned ride-hailing surcharge in Philadelphia before it starts. Here is a different take on trash picking, which happens alot around here!

One local man finds treasure, and value, in trash
One man's trash is another man's treasure and one local man doesn't just say it, he lives it. The stories Ogbonna Hagins tells can be troubling. "I was getting some shoes and some radios out of the trash, or what people call trash, and someone said something to me out the window," Hagins said.
