During our recycling program we meet people who want to recycle, but are sometimes doing it wrong. As much as we'd like to maximize what we can recycle the following list is a list for curbside recycling program in Philadelphia (per the Sanitation Dept.- though the "tips" are FOPP's): What to Keep OUT of the Bin These materials have little or no value as raw materials, damage recycling equipment, and can even injure workers. Please leave them out! * Plastic Bags (Tip - many supermarkets and some retail stores accept plastic bags for recycling) * Styrofoam™ Food/Beverage Containers and Shipping/Packing Material (Tip - the Street Department's Satiation Convenience Centers will take Styrofoam, but is must be clean and in a clear plastic bag) * Food Waste * Wet or Food-Soiled Paper * Waxed Paper Plates, Cups, and Takeout Containers * Greasy Pizza Boxes *Tissues, Paper Towels, and Napkins * Light Bulbs * Porcelain and Non-Container Glass * Cassette Tapes (VHS and audio) * Garden Hoses * Needles and Syringes * Electronics (Tip - the Sanitation Convenience Center will take TVs, computer monitors and other computer related equipment at no charge. Best Buy stores will take some small electronics - check their website for details)

POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH January, 2018 P/O...

POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH January, 2018 P/O Thomas Gonglik # 4132 P/O Matthew Quinn #4761 On Tuesday, January 16 Officers Gonglik and Quinn were working a marked unit and were in uniform. The officers responded to a radio call for an officer requesting back-up at Algon Avenue and Fox Chase Road. The officer had a vehicle stopped at that location. A white male fled from the vehicle. The male was wearing a grey-hooded black sweater and pants. Officers Gonglik and Quinn observed a white male in the area of 1600 Tustin St. The male fit the description of the male who fled from the vehicle at Algon and Fox Chase. The officers approached the male. The male began to fidget around and was patted down by the officers. A white cylinder fell out of his jacket and fell to the ground. Upon hitting the ground, the cylinder exposed a clear baggie with it being heat sealed and closed. This baggie contained a white, crystal type substance inside, which was believed to be crystal meth. The substance was tested and verified to be crystal meth. The male was charged with manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance. Officers Gonglik and Quinn made an outstanding arrest of drug dealer who is putting poison in our neighborhood. For their effort, the officers are being recognized as our Police Officers of the Month for January, 2018. http://7thpdac.com/police_officer_of_the_month

Loud music

Hi. I live right behind this restaurant/bar. Every night they would play loud music. Starts at 9pm-2 or 3 am. I’m okay with it because it’s a restaurant/bar. I cannot stand it when they opened the back door. The music was extremely loud where I cannot sleep in my bedroom. I don’t want to call 911 since is not life threatening. Who can I contact in the city?

Thank you

  • Why don't you call Counceilman O'Neill's office and see where they tell you to call?

  • Scouter Dad, Husband, Scout Leader, and Patriot

Do everything under your control before bringing in outside help. Either write a letter or approach management first.

This is your opportunity to bring some winter sunshine to a senior who may not have many visitors or to spruce up a local rec center. If you choose The Glendale Home, your shared art project will connect you to a neighbor on a personal level.

If you participate in the Max Myers clean up, you will be helping spruce up the rec center which is finally the focus of an upgrade.

Either way, we need you!
