Rescue on Ridge

A historic designation could be on the way for a favorite landmark at Ridge and Midvale.

    Rescue on Ridge
A historic designation could be on the way for a favorite landmark at Ridge and Midvale. Last fall's demolition of the beautiful old "Catfish Cafe" building on Scotts Lane sent local preservationists into overdrive. In particular, the stock green Mason's building in the heart of our riverfront district seemed particularly vulnerable, with its caving roof and rickety fire escape.

Yes, my Falls friends this is that special time of year when we once again venture outside to enjoy the beauty of our exquisite neighborhood, hopefully whilst sipping on an alcoholic libation. It's also a time when many brewers start releasing great seasonal selections.

On March 26, a male cat turned up on my property (Penn Street, near McMichael Park), no collar, limping and a bit dirty and very hungry - and very friendly. I have taken him to the vet, and he is not microchipped. He is a very patient, friendly boy, neutered, and the vet estimates he is about 5 years old; he weighed a bit over 9 lbs. I believe this cat has an owner who misses him very much. He is in good health; the limping was from something stuck in his paw, which the vet removed. If you are missing a cat, or your neighbor has been looking for his/her cat, please let me know; and please ask around. (East Falls Townwatch is not happy about posters being put up, so I have limited them to the immediate area.) Thanks!
