The book is a collection of photos and articles that commemorate some of the accomplishments of African Americans in law enforcement; primarily in the Philadelphia Police Department. Mr. Matthews has researched the ten-year campaign (from 1871 to 1881) by the African American citizens of the historic 7th Ward, to hire African Americans as police officers.
