Fog has lifted for most area except for a few areas along the immediate coastline. Warmer, more seasonable temperatures are in the forecast for this afternoon, making a nice comeback from yesterday's cooler weather. A weak cold front is poised to move through the area this evening, increasing our chance for showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon through the evening. Storms should remain scattered as they move from northwest to southeast. There is a chance that a few storms could be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts and/or small hail. Note that storms will likely be scattered and so not everyone will be impacted.

Noon update: Skies are still overcast over much of the area, though the warm front is beginning to move through southern Delaware as you can see by the wind barbs on the station plot (wind comes from the direction of the barbs). The northward progression of the front will ultimately determine how unstable the atmosphere becomes this afternoon and evening. Storms are expected to stay primarily over Maryland, Delaware, extreme southeast Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey. Hi-resolution model runs have been suggesting stronger storms may form a little more to the southeast, so threats to areas north of I-195 appear less likely at this time. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day as this is a very dynamic and evolving system. Have a great Saturday!
