5:30 PM update: Rain/snow line is approximate...

5:30 PM update: Rain/snow line is approximately along the Kent/Sussex Co line in Delaware and the Cumberland/Cape May Co line in NJ. The rain/snow line is further SE than previously forecast, but it is expected to drift NW through the evening. Please use caution if driving anywhere in the region this afternoon and evening. Even a small amount of snow accumulation can result in slippery conditions! You can see the latest snow forecast map here: http://www.weather.gov/phi/winter Previous update: Good afternoon everyone! Precipitation is beginning to move into the area (as of 3:30 PM, it was in Delmarva and about to move into south NJ). Precipitation may start as rain, but for many locations will change over to snow or a rain and snow mix. Below is our latest snow forecast. The heaviest snow is expected through the evening hours. Snow is expected to quickly move out after midnight. With temperatures well above freezing tomorrow, considerable melting is expected during the day tomorrow. You can also see the latest briefing at http://www.weather.gov/media/phi/current_briefing.pdf If you have any snow reports, we'd love to see them, please post them in this thread! Thank you all so much!

Good Saturday morning NWS Mount Holly FB friends and visitors to NJ/DE e PA, e MD. An approximately 9 hour snow event late today and tonight will dump most of its accumulative snow between ~6 PM and midnight. If traveling the Interstate 95 corridor and northwestward through e PA into southern NYS, Long Island and southern New England, be prepared for rapidly deteriorating and slippery road conditions, as well as travel delays late this afternoon and early tonight. Snow may change to rain several hours after beginning from Wilmington to Philadelphia and New Brunswick, limiting accumulations there. The snow wont hang around long. Record warmth is forecast in our area Tuesday or more likely Wednesday when the mercury should rise into the mid 70s in the Philadelphia area. Our approximate estimate of expected snowfall as issued at 330 AM is attached, as well the chance for more than 2" ,and onset time. This information will be updated later today and we will be asking for your assistance with snow measurements, any time after 4 PM. Have a good day and thank you for following us.

Good Thursday Morning! A few days of warm wea...

Good Thursday Morning! A few days of warm weather, then turning much colder Friday night through Saturday. A quick moving storm will bring wintry precipitation to much of our area from late Saturday afternoon into very early Sunday morning. The snowfall map below is our first take regarding the late Saturday into early Sunday system. The amounts will be highly dependent on air temperatures, precipitation intensity and ground temperatures. There should be an area with some mixed precipitation and even rain which would cut down on snow amounts. While we are expecting an area of accumulating snow, the amounts and impacts are less certain. Another update will be issued later today.
