Please join Juntos & Galaei Phillyi Monday morning at 11:30 for a press conference/rally to demand that ICE #FreeIvan and allows him to be reunited with his husband. On January 31, Jose “Ivan” Nuñez was attending his marriage interview at USCIS with his husband Paul fully expecting to be in and out of the office. Paul and Ivan are in love and have been married since April 9th, 2016. What should have been a dream come true ended in a nightmare. In the middle of his interview ICE agents stormed into the interview and handcuffed him without warning. We believe that love has no borders and ask you to join us in demanding that ICE free Ivan from detention so he may be reunited with his husband. If Ivan was to be deported back to Mexico, Ivan’s life would be in jeopardy due to his sexuality. His sister, who is also queer, is currently in hiding with her partner back home and close friends of the family have been severely assaulted for their sexual orientation. As of January 13th, USCIS has deemed Ivan and Paul’s marriage petition valid and Ivan has passed his Reasonable Fear interview, meaning there is no reason why he should still be in detention.

Plan for police HQ at Inquirer building prompts call for outside appraisals in city real estate deals

The revelation that the city received no independent guidance on the property’s value could add to concerns over its spending on the Police Department’s planned move from its current headquarters in the dated four-story building at 750 Race St. known as the Roundhouse.

This article has 3 other Philadelphia locations (Show)

The bill, introduced Jan. 25 with Councilman Bobby Henon as a cosponsor, was a response to Domb’s discovery late last year that no independent appraisal had been done for the 400 N. Broad St. building. which housed editorial offices for the Inquirer, the Daily News, and Philly.com until July 2012.

Plan for police HQ at Inquirer building prompts call for outside appraisals in city real estate deals - Philly
Philadelphia officials say their agreement to pay $249 million to a developer for a new city Police Headquarters in the former Inquirer building on North Broad Street is a good deal for the city. But that position is not backed up by an independent appraisal of the property's value, because none was completed.
