How can we encourage more active participatio...

How can we encourage more active participation in elections? Change starts with us, and it starts by exercising your franchise. There are few people who legitimately can't vote, even formerly incarcerated and some who are currently incarcerated can. So let's do this!

What we can learn from low Pa. primary election turnout, and why it matters that just 1 in 6 Philly voters showed up
Turnout in Tuesday's primary election was lower in the city than in the rest of the state. Experts cited many reasons for that, and a resultant problem: Uneven voting makes for uneven representation. - Jonathan Lai, Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News

Thanks to the internet and social media outlets like Instagram, we have more opportunities than ever to view images of buildings and places we might never visit. But quantity shouldn't be confused with quality. Those two-dimensional concentrations of pixels can tell us only so much.

Philadelphia write-in candidate: I won with one vote
A Philadelphia resident was shocked to receive a letter Friday saying they won an election earlier in the month - apparently because no one else cast a vote. "I literally yelled 'what the hell' when I opened the letter," Phillip Garcia told The Hill.

Many employees have sat through training sessions on the topic. But for city workers in Philadelphia - which does have a prevention policy - there's no mandatory training in place.

We have an election on May 15th, have you done your homework and decided who and what you'll vote for? As always Committee of Seventy has put together a bipartisan guide and has some tools on their website to help you choose the candidates that best represent you. They also have ballot questions spelled out in plain English so you can study up before election day.
