Interactive workshop for the whole family featuring hands-on activities, examination of primary sources, and a screening of History Making Productions' Octavius V. Catto: A Legacy for the 21st Century followed by a discussion led by local Catto experts. Octavius V. Catto was a 19th century civil rights activist, scholar, athlete, and community leader. In September 2017 a coalition of community activists, scholars, and public servants had the joy of dedicating a memorial at City Hall to this local hero, making him the first individual African American to be honored with a statue on public land in Philadelphia.

Tokens will be going away. On Monday, SEPTA will stop selling them at subway stations. Better get ready! http://planphilly.com/articles/2018/01/17/answers-for-all-your-septa-key-questions

Answers for all your SEPTA Key questions
On Monday, SEPTA will stop selling tokens at subway stations, taking a long-awaited leap forward in the neverending game of hopscotch that is the rollout of its new fare payment system, SEPTA Key. The end of station token sales represents a significant first step towards scrapping the fare coins entirely in 2019, a full five years after their original retirement date.

What's a Plan?

A city plan uses community input, research, and surveying, to guide how to improve housing, neighborhoods, jobs, shopping options, transportation, and public space.

Plans also identify how to turn the ideas in the plan into action. Once completed, City Planning works with other city departments, partners, and community groups to make the plan happen.

Learn more about the Philadelphia2035 plan and the West District.

What's Next?

The final version of the plan will be presented for adoption at a City Planning Commission meeting. Open to the public!

Once the plan is adopted by the City Planning Commission, our staff will start working on making it happen, in partnership with community organizations, West District residents, fellow City departments, and other partners.
