Just how much did Philadelphia wine, spirits sales spike during the Super Bowl?

Helping to pump up consumption were beer giveaways by Bud Light and Yards Brewing during the parade. Bud gave away an unspecified number of 12-ounce beers at bars near the parade route. Yards handed out 1,200 Philly Pale Ales at its new brewery and tasting room at 500 Spring Garden St.

Not surprisingly, the Eagles' run to the Super Bowl - and the victory parade later that week - was a boon to bars in the region, which usually see a post-holiday slump.

A unexpected chant erupted at Broad Street and Washington Avenue just before 9:30 a.m. “Here come the Patriots!” multiple fans yelled…at a line of passing trash trucks.

It was easy to spot Ace Calloway in a sea of green near Broad Street and Pattison Avenue. He was the only guy dressed in a referee’s uniform.

The best things Eagles fans said at the Super Bowl parade in Philadelphia - Philly
Eagles fans started lining up for Thursday's Super Bowl parade well before the first light of dawn fell across the city. With a lot of time to kill -and a lot of adult beverages to help keep fans somewhat warm 'n' fuzzy -Broad Street was bound to be littered with more sharp one-liners than green and white confetti.

Better than Bud Light: Yards offers free local beer during Eagle parade

The oldest continually-operating brewery in Philadelphia will be giving out free beer of its own. Starting at 11:30 a.m., every customer who comes by the brand new taproom at 500 Spring Garden St. will get a Philly Pale Ale on the house.

Better than Bud Light: Yards offers free local beer during Eagle parade
Bud Light is famously making good on its promise to Lane Johnson that it would provide free beer to Philadelphians because the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Reps from the brewing giant will be stationed at "multiple taverns" along the parade route, the Anheuser-Busch brand has said, and will somehow manage to hand out a free brewksi to every 21+ person who asks for one.

Remember when an entire pocket of a neighborhood that called itself "Callow East" hit the market about a year ago? A local developer has just purchased a bunch of the properties to the tune of $36 million. It should not come as a surprise that Arts+Crafts Holdings is the new owner of five properties in the east Callowhill neighborhood.
