There is still time to see the Philadelphia Assembled exhibition before it comes to a close on December 10th at the Philadelphia Museum of Art! Philadelphia Assembled tells a story of active resistance and radical community building through the personal and collective narratives that make up Philadelphia’s changing urban fabric. These narratives will be explored through a collaborative effort between the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a team of individuals, collectives, and organizations as they experiment with multiple methodologies for amplifying and connecting relationships in Philadelphia’s transforming landscape. For more information:

    project
Initiated by artist Jeanne van Heeswijk, together with a collaborative team of artists, makers, storytellers, gardeners, healers, activists, Museum staff and community members, Philadelphia Assembled explores social issues that resonate in "The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection."

How a rowdy, beer-soaked Friday meeting above National Mechanics keeps this tech firm sharp
Walk into National Mechanics at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon, and you'd be excused for thinking you weren't actually in an Old City bar. Not every week, but once or twice a month, the 11-year-old bar and restaurant gets overrun by computer programmers, project managers and tech types, many of whom are employed by WebLinc, the e-commerce software firm whose CEO owns the 180-year-old building that National Mechanics inhabits.

We now picture Tony having conversations in heaven with Benjamin Franklin, sharing a Jack Daniels with Thomas Jefferson, and exploring the great beyond with wanderlust partner and love of his life, wife Marge. An artist known for his woodcut prints of the American West, Tony was also a painter, graphic designer and photographer. He was a great storyteller with an amazing mind and memory for detail. A magnet for friends, he welcomed diversity of ideas and lifestyle. He was a lifelong progressive with deep concern for the poor and disenfranchised. Tony attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. After retiring from his job as Art Director of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, he began making prints again. His work has been included in recent exhibitions at El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso, TX; Dempsey Arts Center, Auburn, AL; Berkeley Arts Center, Berkeley CA; and International Print Center New York, New York, NY. Cret Exhibition Captures Vibrations Of The City
Editor's note: Architectural drawing is a dying art. Before the digital revolution gave birth to drafting software, renderings of buildings, bridges, barrel vaults, and bell towers were meticulously illustrated by hand. And although most of the technical work done for architectural and engineering firms in the past left no room for emotion or expression, a human touch, and a physical object, remained.

Penn just approved its third housing project in four years. But is another dorm necessary?

A representative from Domus, an off-campus apartment building located at 34th and Chestnut streets, said 50 to 60 percent of the apartment building complex is made up of Penn students, and demand has only been increasing.

Penn just approved its third housing project in four years. But is another dorm necessary?
New College House West, which will be built over the High Rise field, is the latest of three major projects that Penn has undertaken in the past four years to expand on-campus housing. Some administrators have said that the main reason for building New College House West is an apparent need for more on-campus housing, though student accounts and data on student housing seem to contradict this.
