On January 31, 2018, the Rosenbach will host a screening of the classic horror film NOSFERATU, with live organ accompaniment by Frederick R. Haas. Conceived as a companion program to our Frankenstein and Dracula exhibition, this spooky cinematic event will give us a chance to experience another gothic monster in this critically acclaimed and beautifully visualized film--which, incidentally, is lifted almost whole cloth from Bram Stoker's DRACULA. This blog post explores the connections between the Stoker estate, the Rosenbach, NOSFERATU, and our unusual off-site event.

    The Destruction of Nosferatu
On January 31, 2018, the Rosenbach will host a screening of the classic horror film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror , with Frederick R. Haas accompanying the movie on the organ at Macy's.

The Winter Solstice Bird Walk is only one week away! Join us for a late afternoon bird walk and bird themed crafts from 4-6pm. Read on for Toribird's winter tip of the week! ------ As the the nights get longer and the wind colder, people may think that winter is a bad time for birdwatching. It is true that some birds leave the Mid-atlantic to spend the season farther south. However, there are many that summer in northern places like Canada, and spend the winter right here in Philly! Ducks, kinglets, and sparrows are among those that winter in this area. Also, birds like the Blue Jay, American Robin, and Red-tailed Hawk, along with various types of woodpeckers, can be seen year-round at The Woodlands. Finally, since most trees have lost their leaves, it is much easier to find all these winter treasures!
