The Franklin Institute added an event.

Join us for an evening of ‘out of this world’ astronomy activities hosted by Franklin Institute Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts. Night Skies in the Observatory is a monthly stargazing event connecting you to celestial objects in the night sky including stars, planets, and nebulae using telescopes in Bloom Observatory and at ‘Ben’s Starlight Lounge’ on our 5th floor rooftop observation deck, featuring a cash bar. Build your own experience from any combination of planetarium shows, a live science talk on astronomy or space science, hands-on astronomy activities and continuous telescopic observing all evening (weather permitting). The program is staffed with knowledgeable observers and free star maps are provided. Tickets at $10 for the general public and $5 for members. Details here: http://bit.ly/2opkncg Featured programming for this program will be announced soon. In London, around 1800, a Swiss mechanician named Henri Maillardet built an automaton that could draw four images and write three poems. This automaton was bequeathed to the Institute in 1928 and is one of the highlights of our permanent collection; it is on view in our Amazing Machine exhibition. http://bit.ly/2nwStJp IMAGE: Henri Maillardet (Swiss, 1745-1830) | The Automaton of Henri Maillardet | ca. 1810 | The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia

    Why Do Children Ask, 'Why?'
Have you ever wondered why children ask "why" so often? Even as adults, we question the "why" of many things not in our control. For children, "why" questions help them make sense of the world around them that they are just beginning to learn about. These "why" questions also help spur and accelerate learning.
