Rain and snow showers should move out of the area by mid afternoon. Winds will pick up as showers move through and will remain blustery through the evening with lows in the mid 30s throughout much of the region and near 30 for the Poconos and northern New Jersey.

Good things come in trees. As many of you know, East Point Breeze Neighbors participates in the PHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Street Tree planting twice a year, in November and in April. This Saturday, April 21, is the day! We, along with our friends at Newbold CDC and West Passyunk Neighbors have a total of 25 trees to stick in the ground, including 10 in the EPBN service area. We need a few more able-bodied neighbors to help dig some pits and plant some trees. If you can volunteer on Saturday morning (around 9:30am), comment here, PM us or email clean@epbneighbors.org. BONUS POINTS if you happen to have a heavy-duty digging shovel, a pick-ax or a push broom that you can bring along! This is a regular Tree Party, and as a great poet once said: After the Party is the Afterparty! All volunteers are invited for pizza and beer post-trees at Brewery ARS! NOTE - our newest neighborhood Tree-Tenders group, Point Breeze Tree Tenders is also planting trees on 21 April. Their "zone" is WEST of 18th street, so if you live closer to that side of the Breeze, give them a shout -With their trees added, we're up to almost FORTY NEW TREES! This will continue to slide further east through the morning, resulting in heavy rain and possibly strong winds (highest threat for this is in Delmarva). Quite warm for all areas away from the immediate coast today, with even a record high temperature set at Allentown, PA (87 degrees!). A cold front though will settle south across our area during tonight, bringing much colder air with it along with developing low clouds and some light rain or drizzle. It will be much colder on Sunday.

Have you had a chance to enjoy the warm weather yet? If not, today is your last chance for a while! A cold front will sink south later today. Highs today are forecast to be in the 70s and 80s, but by tomorrow, it will be around 30 degrees lower! For those of you whose outdoor plans include time near the ocean, please keep in mind that water temperatures on the ocean and bays remain quite cold. Those participating in water activities should take care not to enter the water. Hypothermia, exhaustion, and unconsciousness can occur in less than one hour.
