Kudos to Cop, 1st Dist, in white suv 3:20 am Mon. 6/18, 1800 Mifflin St, 19145, stopped senior citizen as she was entering her home w/a bucket of gravel from street paving to fill around her tree. "Excuse me, Miss, what are you going to do with that bucket of gravel, asks he", "Why, I'm going to place it around my tree" says she. The truck tore up the pavement digging up the street, there's grass growing, neighbors don't like it, dogs are pissing in it', so I"m going to put gravel to discourage it'... "As long as you're using it on City Property" says he. This is a scene from a Keystone Kop episode, Certainly, taking property from...egad!...the city..that doesn't belong to you should be punishable accordingly. Is there cause for real concern here? At the same moment as the cop stopped to give her the business, across the street, a guy in long dreadlocks and looking very unkempt was shining a light into cars looking for something.
Gee, Officer K, I hope you drilled him on why he was shining a light into cars that early in the morning.
While you're on intense patrol, be on the lookout please for the culprit that broke into the 2 homes in the 1800 block of S.19th Street and stole real items of importance to city dwellers. Those crimes have never been solved although it's been said that it's a very local culprit. Not as important as thievery from the city, I agree, nevertheless...
Thank you to all who helped us celebrate Love Your Park by cleaning the park areas. A very special Thank you to XFinity Live! for providing the funding for our ponies.
Just a reminder: Tomorrow, May 12 is Love Your Park Day at Marconi Plaza. Cleaning the park from 10 am till noon. meet at the bocce court..........rakes, gloves and bags are provided ......Pony rides and face painting at 15th and Bigler Sts. from noon till 3 pm. Rain is forecasted to end by 9 am, so everything at this time is a go.....
Just a brief note about a dog park in Marconi Plaza....a dog park is costly to enclose in fencing and it must be maintained by an administrative group with rules and regulations. Our friends group does not have the personnel to initiate or maintain such an undertaking. Interested parties can approach this with the city and check out feasibility.
We have been receiving many complaints about dog owners allowing their dogs to run free off of leashes. This practice is against the law and can be dangerous to children and other dogs. Please have your dog leashed in Marconi Plaza, both east and west sides and please, pick up your dog's waste. Again, it is the law and it is common courtesy.
Please join us for our Love Your Park Week activities on Saturday, May 12, 2018. We will be cleaning the park from 10 am till noon and we will meet at the bocce court. We supply rakes, gloves and bags. At noon till 3 pm there will be pony rides and face painting at 15th and Bigler Streets.
