For those of you wishing for summer weather, be careful what you wish for. Dangerously hot conditions will be possible across much of the region Monday from mid day through early evening. Try to limit outdoor activities during the hottest portion of the day. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks, wear light weight, loose-fitting clothing, and drink plenty of water.

Good Sunday morning! The temperatures will make a run at 90 degrees this afternoon for many inland areas. The humidity should remain low enough today, however hotter and more humid conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday. The heat index will reach to around 100 degrees for much of the area Monday afternoon. Going to the beach today? The rip current risk for today is low. Have a great day!

Good Saturday morning! A cool start to the day with temperatures in the 50s, with even some 40s across mainly the Poconos and northwestern New Jersey. Plenty of sunshine today with afternoon temperatures rising into the 80s for most of the area. The wind will turn more southerly this afternoon, and this will allow for some cooling along the coast. Don't know about you, but we are loving the current weather! Temperatures will be on the rise through Monday, providing a break from the cool, wet weather we've generally been dealing with over the past few weeks. In fact, most places are forecast to top 90 degrees on Monday. Return flow will bring more moisture to the region and higher dew points starting on Sunday, so we will likely be dealing with high heat indices by Monday. Have a great weekend everyone.

Storms last night produced an interesting outflow boundary that moved south across New Jersey over night. An outflow boundary (a.k.a gust front) is essentially a boundary between cooler air descended from a thunderstorm that sinks and spreads outward due to to its higher density than surrounding air. The radar detects insects and/or dust that are lofted into the air by the wind along this outflow, which is why you can see it as a line on the radar loop here.
