Good Morning Everyone! We will be starting the morning dry, albeit foggy in some places. However, this afternoon and evening, there is a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Gusty winds and some heavy downpours will be possible with the strongest storms (the image below shows the chance of precipitation). Noon update: Skies are still overcast over much of the area, though the warm front is beginning to move through southern Delaware as you can see by the wind barbs on the station plot (wind comes from the direction of the barbs). The northward progression of the front will ultimately determine how unstable the atmosphere becomes this afternoon and evening. Storms are expected to stay primarily over Maryland, Delaware, extreme southeast Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey. Hi-resolution model runs have been suggesting stronger storms may form a little more to the southeast, so threats to areas north of I-195 appear less likely at this time. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day as this is a very dynamic and evolving system. Have a great Saturday!

Good Morning Facebook Friends! If you have outdoor plans today, please keep an eye on the weather. Across the region, heavy rain leading to flooding (especially in poor drainage and urban areas) will be possible into this evening. For Delmarva, South Jersey, and far southeastern Pennsylvania, some of the thunderstorms this afternoon and evening could be strong to severe. The primary hazard with these storms is expected to be strong winds.
