This Week! Join CultureWorks and Philadelphia...

This Week! Join CultureWorks and Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance for "Power and Leadership: What's Your Relationship to Power"? On Thursday, June 28, we are covering the topic of power. In order to use power to effect positive change in our organizations, we have to develop a good relationship with it. Yes, power can be abused, corrupting, and hoarded. Yet power can also be helpful, edifying, and shared. What’s your relationship to power in your organization? What do you know about your own power? How can you shift your understanding of power to better equip you to lead? This workshop is designed to motivate leaders to stand responsibly in their own power. There are still a few seats available. Tickets are on a sliding scale, no one will be turned away. See you Thursday!

    PACA @ CW // Power & Leadership
In partnership with CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance (PACA) will offer a workshop series aimed at developing leadership capacity and skills. This month, we'll focus on: Power & Leadership // "The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."

An editorial in today's Philadelphia Inquirer talks about how the Rail Park can help its neighborhood "become Philadelphia’s next great — and equitable — community."

Will Philly's new Rail Park help create neighborhood for all? | Editorial
The hope of Rail Park proponents is to use the park to help link the neighborhoods together which are growing in an area with little green space and more suited for industrial than residential uses. - The Inquirer Editorial Board, Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News

Read Dracula in real time.* On June 25, Jonathan decides to take action. Noticing that he has never seen the Count in the daytime, he wonders if that is when he sleeps. In the burial vaults of a ruined chapel in the castle, Jonathan finds Dracula in a box lying on a pile of newly dug earth, looking more dead than alive, with his open eyes staring out. Jonathan flees back to his room (so much for taking action). *The novel, Dracula, is comprised of journal entries and letters, all dated, so throughout the year, we’ll be posting a day-by-day account of the plot of Dracula. Follow along with your own reading and feel free to leave comments below (no spoilers for those who may be reading for the first time). #Draculainrealtime https://media.giphy.com/media/3oEdv8rPL4ZV3aguNG/giphy.gif

Read Dracula in real time.* On June 23, at night Jonathan hears the Szgany workmen digging somewhere in the castle. A little later he sees the Count emerge from his window and crawl down the the wall, but this time Dracula is wearing Jonathan’s travelling clothes. While keeping watch later, the three vampire women try to put Jonathan into a trance, as they materialize out of swirling dust, but Jonathan flees, only to hear from the Count’s room, “a sharp wail quickly suppressed. A woman appears below the window in the courtyard and shouts up at Jonathan, “Monster, give me my child!” As she beats on the castle door, Dracula beckons the wolves. The pack descends upon the woman. “Before long they streamed away singly, licking their lips.” Illustration is the cover of the 1916 edition, published by Rider & Son in London. *The novel, Dracula, is comprised of journal entries and letters, all dated, so throughout the year, we’ll be posting a day-by-day account of the plot of Dracula.
