8 over-the-top Thanksgiving lunches in Philly
The nation's biggest feasting holiday is almost here, but if you can't wait to get your fix, you don't have to settle for the same old Wawa Gobbler. We already told you about the absurdly layered creation at Jake's Sandwich Board - the famous Turducken there was even recently featured on ABC's The Chew - but several other Philly restaurants and shops also have you covered.

This school is horrible. Yes its safe, yes the building is nice. Thats it. They end up with different math curriculums every year. The children get no time to master subjects, new subject each week with a test. And science class is a joke from my experience of having a child in for the last 3 years (6thru 9) The teachers teach from powerpoints copied from a template course in ItunesU. And that is all. There is no engagement or comprehension. There are no textbooks, so the kids google the answers to their assignments, which means no one has the same answer. The assignments are graded, but not given the appropriate answers in class. Their tests are so secretive and disconnected from the assignments and notes. Children are not allowed to bring them home or take pictures of them, to study for the next exam. The only positive thing I can say is that the STEM classes are great, and so are the math and ELA once you get a good teacher. They seem to have support in those areas. But I don't understand how you can have great STEM teachers but poor science teachers. Basically my child brings home powerpoints and I have to teach him. The teachers should be teaching the kids to mastery as if they have parents with no education at home. Not babysitting and assuming parents will teach their kids at home. I ask how to help my student learn the information and the teacher says to help the child memorize the slides. Im sorry but that is not education. Why haven't I transferred my child yet? Its like a catch 22, a great achieving kid ends up in this school, to not be taught, therefore ends up with low scores and grades, and then cannot transfer out because they cant meet the standards of a competitive school any longer do to the poor environment. STUCK.

I would recommend this school just because students are not testing well does not mean that the students are not doing overall proficient work. The word test will get anyone nervous and not allow them to perform at their normal standards.

Good Sunday evening NWS Mount Holly FB friends, residents and travelers to NJ, DE, e parts of both PA and MD. Coastal flooding, mostly minor and mainly along the NJ and DE coasts may occur again with during the Tuesday and Wednesday morning high tide cycles. Otherwise, occasionally unsettled weather occurs early this week, especially near and south of Philly and Atlantic City through the Delmarva Peninsula. A period of much much colder weather should arrive sometime Friday and could result in a widespread hard freeze and frost next weekend (11th-12th). Calendar day average departures on the negative side of normal could be the largest since early Sept.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for this morning along the coasts of New Jersey and Delaware. The high tides associated with the full moon along with a developing onshore flow will cause minor flooding this morning. Minor flooding is again possible with Sunday morning's high tide. Here is our forecast graphic for the tide gauge at Lewes, Delaware. The blue line represents the observed water levels and the black line with the small boxes is the forecast. The water level is expected to reach the minor flood level this morning and again on Sunday morning. This graph and others like it can be found on our web site under Rivers and Lakes (even though in this case it is neither).
