Cret Exhibition Captures Vibrations Of The City
Editor's note: Architectural drawing is a dying art. Before the digital revolution gave birth to drafting software, renderings of buildings, bridges, barrel vaults, and bell towers were meticulously illustrated by hand. And although most of the technical work done for architectural and engineering firms in the past left no room for emotion or expression, a human touch, and a physical object, remained.

According to Trevor Hoppe, assistant professor of sociology at the University at Albany, SUNY, "criminalization is never the appropriate response to infectious disease." It's an idea that Hoppe explores in his new book, "Punishing Disease: HIV and the Criminalization of Sickness," which he'll be discussing Nov. 17 at William Way LGBT Community Center.

SRC votes to dissolve, taking first step toward local control of schools
Many, including Mayor Kenney, have wondered aloud in the past if the dissolution of the SRC would damage relations with Harrisburg and imperil attempts at cooperation. Monson and Geary, however, said they noticed no change in lawmaker attitudes toward the formula change, even as the momentum gathered for local control.

"The result: a more inclusive park by many accounts that, while not totally immune to societal ills, is an example of an approach that Balfelt says is about quality, time and trust."

In Copenhagen, a "People's Park" Design Includes Dark Corners
In the center of Nørrebro, a relatively diverse northern neighborhood in otherwise homogenous Copenhagen, lies a park the size of a small town square. Despite its unimpressive size, Folkets Park, the People's Park, is a square plot of grassy land that has been contested for decades.

Fall Clean Up Day, December 2nd 2017 It's that time of year again for our Fall Clean Up Day: Saturday, December 2, 2017. The Streets Department will clean the major streets with sweeper and water trucks. The smaller streets will be cleaned by crews with leaf blowers. We need your help to make Clean Up Day successful. It is important that you move your car. We will post No Parking signs from 7th to Juniper and Rodman to Spruce prior to the clean up day. Additionally flyers with information about parking restrictions will be placed on cars. Unless otherwise posted cars must be moved to the opposite side of the street no later than 8:00 AM on Saturday; you may move your car any time after 8:00 PM on Friday. Cars that are not moved will be ticketed. After 2:00 PM Saturday cars must be moved back to the correct side of the street or they will be ticketed. It is important that you clean leaves and litter off your sidewalk. Leaf bags, rakes, brooms and shovels will be provided at Seger Park starting at 8:00 am. All materials must be returned by 1:00 pm. The drop off sites for leaves and bagged litter are every intersection of Spruce, Pine and Lombard with the numbered streets. No household trash please. This year our clean up day will include shredding services, courtesy of the Office of State Representative Brian Sims. Machines will be at Seger Park between 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. You may bring personal records for secured shredding. No business or commercial records please.
