Another cold night on tap tonight with wind chills as low as 10 below in the Poconos, otherwise in the single digits. Some light snow and/or flurries with no snow accumulations are possible Monday morning across the Delmarva, southeast PA, and southern NJ. Stay warm! Next chances for snow to occur are Tuesday and Tuesday night, and there still is the potential for snow late Wednesday. After that, there looks to be a warmup into next weekend with temperatures gradually rising to above normal levels!

Hi everyone! A few things to note with the weather through the weekend: 1. Today will be very warm (we already have a few sites in the 60s at 5 AM!) with periods of rain through the day. There is a potential for heavy rain leading to localized flooding in poor drainage areas. 2. Don't let the warm weather today fool you! We're still in January and expecting a big cool down late tonight into Saturday. Any standing water from the rain today could freeze leading to icy driving conditions tomorrow. 3. A wintry mix of sleet and snow is expected across the Lehigh Valley, NW NJ, and the southern Poconos very late tonight into Saturday morning. See the attached graphic for forecast ice amounts. ZONING MEETING TONIGHT @ 6:30 pm Did you kno...

ZONING MEETING TONIGHT @ 6:30 pm Did you know that EPBN hosts monthly Zoning meetings on the second Wednesday of every month? All are invited to come hear about proposed projects, and if you're a near neighbor of one of the projects on the schedule, you may cast a vote in support of or against the project. The tally of those votes is submitted to the Zoning Board of Adjustments and considered when the applicant appears for their official hearing. If you want your voice heard, an EPBN zoning meeting is the right place to start. Tonight's meeting includes 3 properties, including one major project that will have a substantial impact on the neighborhood: 1258 S 17th Street - Legalization of a 6-unit residential building 1706 S. 16th Street - Open Space variance 1433 Federal Street - Permission to allow an exisiting 39-unit building, plus an additional 4 duplexes with commercial on the ground floor, facing Federal. Come be an integral part of the process! TONIGHT - Wednesday, Jan 10, 6:30pm South Philadelphia Library 1700 S Broad (@ Morris)

After our almost 2 week period of temperatures near or below freezing, a lot of ice has developed on area water ways. This loop, using GOES-16 data (the latest geostationary satellite), shows ice on the Delaware Bay. This loop roughly covers Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon (this particular loop uses a certain kind of satellite imagery that is only available during daylight hours). You can see the ice moving with the tides through the day. There are also a few passing high clouds that are visible on this loop.

Philadelphian brings more 'Unity in the Community' during the holidays with NBA's Ben Simmons
South Philly native, Anton Moore, and the NBA's and Philadelphia 76ers' rising star, Ben Simmons, connected recently to assist those in need and spread some holiday cheer. "We worked on this for three weeks and we had to keep it a secret from the families until the day of the event," Moore said of the four families taken on a "surprise shopping spree at Target."

We would like to give a big thank you to the Philadelphia 76'ers, Amy Heaver, and Ben Simmons, for partnering with my organization @unityinthecommunity to take four families from our community on a surprise shopping spree at Target today. We worked on this for three weeks and we had to keep it a secret from the families until the day of the event. The look on the families faces was priceless. Each family was able to spend close to $1500.00 each. Thank you to each and every person that nominated a family for our Operation Holiday Help Initiative. We appreciate it so much. One down, One to go! #Gameon
