Fold: Ten Conversations is an exhibition at C.R. Ettinger Studio that expands on printmaking’s roots in communal production and its role as a vehicle for creative relationships. Exhibition through December 22, 2017 It features Ivanco Talevski’s collaborations and interactions with ten fellow artists connected to Philadelphia: Jane Irish, Sarah McEneaney, Matt Neff, Didier William, Chad Andrews, Joan Curran, Vasko Dukovski, mouth, Illya Mousavijad, and the late Hitoshi Nakazato. Throughout, Talevski recognizes that printmaking processes—both traditional and nontraditional—bring people together to exchange ideas imaginatively. The C.R. Ettinger Studio Gallery features exhibitions of prints and printmaking related works. The gallery has irregular hours (usually open from 1:00 till 6:00 Tuesday through Friday), but always best to contact before visiting or take your chances. Located 13 billion light-years away from Earth, scientists believe they have detected one of the oldest black holes in the Universe. http://wapo.st/2AErV0d

Scientists just found the oldest known black hole, and it's a monster
Eduardo Bañados had three nights to spot something that might not even exist: a supermassive black hole close to the beginning of time. At the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile, perched high atop a mountain in the world's driest desert, he scanned for the signature of a massive, invisible sinkhole in the sky slurping up a whirlpool of brilliant, hot matter.

Andrea Bocelli gets a backstage gelato delivery
Andrea Bocelli gets requests all the time. Friday night, before his show at the Wells Fargo Center, the tenor made one of his own: the "Desire" flavor of gelato from Center City's Gran Caffe L'Aquila. It's Amarena cherries and fior di latte, and Bocelli remembered it from two years ago, when the restaurant catered his dressing room.

With the first significant snow anticipated this evening into tomorrow in the Philadelphia region this season, check out our historical weather information going back to the 1870s to see how this event might compare with the past. http://bit.ly/2kRHgT9

    Historical Weather Data for Philadelphia
Benjamin Franklin was passionate about the weather and developing techniques for monitoring and forecasting weather. In 1743, Franklin observed that northeast storms begin in the southwest. On horseback, he chased a whirlwind almost a mile to find out why. "Poor Richard," aka Ben Franklin under a pseudonym, printed some of the first recorded weather forecasts.

Tinsel Christmas, From the Owner of Finn McCool’s, Pops Up Next Door

Bar owner Teddy Sourias, who’s behind Finn McCool’s, Bru, U-Bahn, Cinder, and the seasonal Uptown Beer Garden, just bought the former jewelry store next to Finn McCool’s and he’s turning it onto a Christmas bar. Tinsel Christmas, at 116 S. 12th Street, is open December 8-31.

Sourias isn’t saying yet what he plans to do with the building next year, but expect it to be a food/drink venue. He’s also working on the upcoming Trademan’s, opening at 1322 Chestnut Street.
