Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. There's a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. Join us at Toasted Walnut to learn about the women's programming at William Way LGBT Community Center. This is a fund and friend raiser - attendees will be able to sign-up or renew their annual community center memberships, network, and learn about the programming planned for this year. Thanks to Toasted Walnut, our host for the evening, for offering complimentary snacks and drink specials. ABOUT WILLIAM WAY LGBT COMMUNITY CENTER: The William Way Community Center encourages, supports, and advocates for the well-being and acceptance of sexual and gender minorities in the Greater Philadelphia region through service, recreational, educational, and cultural programming. Membership in the center begins at just $50 a year, and carries many benefits. From discounts on Center activities to access to the Center's DVD library, your membership not only pays for itself quickly, but also supports so many of the life-saving and life-affirming programs at the Center. http://www.waygay.org/membership/ ABOUT INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (IWD) 2017: Every person - women, men and non-binary people - can play a part in helping drive better outcomes for women. Through meaningful celebration and targeted bold action, we can all be responsive and responsible leaders in creating a more gender inclusive world. Please join Juntos & Galaei Phillyi Monday morning at 11:30 for a press conference/rally to demand that ICE #FreeIvan and allows him to be reunited with his husband. On January 31, Jose “Ivan” Nuñez was attending his marriage interview at USCIS with his husband Paul fully expecting to be in and out of the office. Paul and Ivan are in love and have been married since April 9th, 2016. What should have been a dream come true ended in a nightmare. In the middle of his interview ICE agents stormed into the interview and handcuffed him without warning. We believe that love has no borders and ask you to join us in demanding that ICE free Ivan from detention so he may be reunited with his husband. If Ivan was to be deported back to Mexico, Ivan’s life would be in jeopardy due to his sexuality. His sister, who is also queer, is currently in hiding with her partner back home and close friends of the family have been severely assaulted for their sexual orientation. As of January 13th, USCIS has deemed Ivan and Paul’s marriage petition valid and Ivan has passed his Reasonable Fear interview, meaning there is no reason why he should still be in detention.

It’s #NationalDrinkWineDay! Pour yourself a glass of wine, and picture yourself amid this quiet scene by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. In 1875, the year that Renoir completed the painting, “Luncheon (Le Déjeuner)”, the wine making industry was just coming out of a fifteen year period known as “The Great French Wine Blight,” a devastating blow to France’s economy that destroyed roughly forty percent of France’s vineyards. #LOOKSLOWLY at the wine bottle on the table. While we can’t say for sure what type of wine this is, we can guess. The olive green bottle has vertically parallel sides with long sloping shoulders that do not clearly transition into the neck––typical of a Burgundy style. The wine color is cherry-red, which suggests it may be a lighter red, usually an indication of a Pinot Noir. Red Burgundy is wine that is made in the Burgundy region of eastern France using only Pinot Noir grapes. On your next visit, take the time to seek out “Luncheon” in Room 13, on the west wall of the Collection Gallery. What kinds of wine do you like to drink? 🎨 Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Luncheon (Le Déjeuner), 1875
