Winter Social Has Been Cancelled!!!!! We're sorry to say that on account of the unseasonably warm weather and rain this week--and the fact that this is the last weekend of the Dilworth Plaza Ice Rink this winter--the 8th annual Winter Social has been cancelled for tomorrow. We're already looking forward to next year when we can reconvene as planned, and on solid ice, to celebrate the mid-year mark with our school community. Please stay tuned for upcoming information about Bache In Bloom on May 10th, and the end-of-the-year Field Day--two great Bache-Martin social events already being planned. We apologize for the last minute schedule change and announcement. We were holding out hope for a deep freeze and no rain.

Will the First Blood Test for Concussions be a Game Changer?
Here in Philadelphia, we're still relishing the thrill of long-awaited victory as the ticker tape from the Eagles' Super Bowl parade flutters from the trees. Even as we watched the game, however, we couldn't escape the ever-present risk of brain injuries in football, as several players suffered game-ending hits.

Young Heroes Outreach Begins Action Phase

NLM’s year-long Young Heroes Outreach Program, which takes the Museum’s lessons on civic leadership directly into schools, is now entering the phase when the students choose a social issue that matters to them and plan Action Steps to address that issue. Students in the seventeen schools NLM currently serves have been brainstorming and researching issues for the past several weeks. Their breadth of knowledge and commitment is truly impressive. The students have been considering  a wide range of topics from bullying to gerrymandering. The following seven schools have made their decisions. A formal presentation of each school’s social issue will take place at our annual Young Heroes Impact Celebration on June 2 at Girard College. Watch for event information on this website.

For #BlackHistoryMonth we're looking back at our last summer exhibition Mohamed Bourouissa: Urban Riders, now on view in Paris at Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris. In 2014, Algerian artist Mohamed Bourouissa worked with the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club, a North Philadelphia community of young horse riders to stage an equestrian competition he called "Horse Day." Have you seen the Fletcher Street crew featured by Google Pixel 2? #flashbackfriday #fbf

When you question your lens on the world, you'll find there's more to people than meets the eye. Part of a wider set of stories that encourage people to question their lens on the world, "Fletcher Street Crew" shows how first impressions rarely show the full picture.
