    More development news is coming out of Callowhill, only this time it involves ropes and rappels: A massive rock-climbing gym is going to set up shop in an old warehouse at 340 N. 10 Street. The Cliffs announced that it is opening its first Pennsylvania gym right here in Philly in fall 2018.

    Growing up in Bermuda, Mark "Metal" Wong had no idea what hip-hop was until MTV came to the island in 2001 when he was 18. When he turned on the television one day, a music video featuring b-boys came on. Wong was mesmerized. "I had no idea what it was," he said.

    According to Trevor Hoppe, assistant professor of sociology at the University at Albany, SUNY, "criminalization is never the appropriate response to infectious disease." It's an idea that Hoppe explores in his new book, "Punishing Disease: HIV and the Criminalization of Sickness," which he'll be discussing Nov. 17 at William Way LGBT Community Center.

Big rock climbing gym planned for Callowhill warehouse

More development news is coming out of Callowhill, only this time it involves ropes and rappels: A massive rock-climbing gym is going to set up shop in an old warehouse at 340 N. 10 Street.

The Cliffs’s spot at 340 N. 10th Street puts it right between two major projects: The Rail Park, which will open a quarter-mile section of the trail in early 2018 to the north and Chinatown’s Eastern Tower to the south at 10th and Vine.
