This week, Mx. Rogers comes to the neighborhood.

Philly's queer cabaret examines the truths (and myths) of Mister Rogers' signature kindness
The first black-and-white frames of Morgan Neville's Won't You Be My Neighbor show the familiar Fred Rogers at the piano, coolly attempting to place value and meaning on his approach to communicating with children by way of modulation. As a trained classical composer, he knew that some key changes could be managed with ease, and others could not.

We are pleased to announce that The Wilma Theater is one of the recipients of The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage's 2018 project grants. The grant will fund THERE, an ensemble-devised work, led by Blanka Zizka, which adapts Lebanese American poet Etel Adnan’s book-length poem 'There: In the Light and the Darkness of the Self and of the Other' and contemplates existential questions of personal and community identity and conflict, in an environment created by Berlin-based artist Rosa Barba. The work will premiere as part of the 2019 Fringe Festival. #PewArtsGrants

Thanks to everyone who stopped by on Saturday to check out the Neighborhood Crawl + Youth Arts Workshop Showcase! It was also exciting to unveil Shared Spaces, a pilot project of cooperative spaces that will provide low- or no-cost access to residency, rehearsal, or meeting space for Callowhill/Chinatown North based cultural groups. Shared Spaces emerged as a community priority from the People:Power:Place cultural planning process. Rentable spaces in the pilot program include: Asian Arts Initiative, Studio C, G, Theater, & 3rd floor; Folk Arts Cultural Treasures Charter School, 1st floor; Phield House; and Arts & Craft Holdings, 448 N. 10th Street, 2nd floor.
