UPDATE: An appeal against the denial of permit for 3201 Morrell Ave. will be read tomorrow, 1/17/2018, 2:00 PM at 1515 Arch St,18th floor. The hearing is open to the public, but neighborhood comments or concerns will not be heard at this time because the application has already been denied by the Zoning board. After a denial, the applicant (3201 Morrell Ave.) has the right to appeal formally. Updates will be presented at the next WTCA meeting on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 6:30 PM.

FYI: For the property located at 3201 Morrell Ave., there will be a zoning appeal against denial of permit on 1/17/18, 2 pm at 1515 Arch St, 18th flr. This is the result of a Denial by the L & I Commissioner and the next step is for the attorney to appear before the ZBA and argue for the accommodation. The community is invited to attend. Anyone interested in joining or helping, a good start would be to write a comment with a business name, address, and contact in Northeast Philadelphia who wouldn't mind having us drop off some flyers so that they can hand them to customers to help promote the upcoming bus tour. The 8th District PDAC is holding our first annual Holiday House Decorating Contest Winners will have a year of bragging rights and be awarded with beautifully designed lawn signs indicating the “2017 8th Police District Holiday Decorating Contest Winner” - sponsored by Maria Zimmerman-Culp at RE/MAX Eastern & Bill Culp at All-risk Public Adjusters Prizes will be awarded in the following Three (3) Categories: Category 1 - Top 3 Best Decorated Corner homes or Twin homes Category 2 - Top 3 Best Decorated Row homes Category 3 - Top 3 Best Decorated Single homes How it works: Starting on December 1, you can nominate your home, or a neighbor's home that you feel best captures the Spirit of Christmas and the Holidays. You can nominate as many friends and neighbors as you wish. Nominations can be submitted via Facebook by sending a message to this Facebook page (8th Police District Advisory Council) or you can email the nomination to 8thPDACholidaycontest@gmail.com. As nominations come in, we will create and add them to a google map which will be updated regularly. The map will be posted to the 8th Police District Advisory Council Facebook page so, throughout the contest, pack up the car with kids an celebrate the season and our community. So get your decorations up with all things Christmas and Holidays Nomination deadline will be 12:00pm noon on Friday, December 15. Our judges will be cruising the district on Saturday, December 16th and Sunday 17th to view all nominations and logging their scores. The 9 winning homes will be announced on our Facebook page Monday, December 18, with delivery of the “contest winner” lawn signs shortly after. The Rules 1. All entries must reside within the boundaries of the 8th Police District ( loosely - from the river to the northbound side of the boulevard and from Rhawn street to the city line north of Southampton road). If we are unsure if a nomination is within the boundaries, we will need to verify address with the district. 2. All addresses and displays must be clearly visible from the street! (If your address isn't easily visible from the street, your home may be overlooked by our judges) 3. All nominations must include an address number and street name. Also, please indicate if your nomination is a Single, Twin/Corner, or Row. 4. Since the Judges have several homes to score, all entries MUST remain lit until 11pm on December 16th and December 17th. The Union League Country Club at Torresdale is starting their Trap shooting season this Saturday and Sunday, November 4 & 5, 2017. The first weekend is demonstration shooting from approx 9 am to 5 pm.
