#givingtuesday As we move closer to Christmas on this giving Tuesday, we're going to share some very powerful stories of some of the people that we have touched over the years. I would like to introduce you to Mr.Rob. Over seven years ago, someone emailed into us and let us know that Mr.Rob had cancer and that he was raising his kids by himself. Mr.Rob would volunteer at a shelter not too far from his home on a daily basis. During this time, Mr.Rob was having a tough time financially and was unable to provide Christmas for his children. Well, on Christmas Eve we decided to visit Mr.Rob and his family at their home. When Mr.Rob opened his door tears flowed down his face because we surprised him with gifts, food baskets and much more for his family.I am happy to report that the cancer is gone. If you're thinking about supporting an organization for "Giving Tuesday", please think about Unity in the Community. I am looking for 25 brothers that would be willing to take 25 at-risk young males to the 76'ers game from your community.I will provide the tickets, but the young men must be in middle school or high school and they cannot be related to you.The purpose of this is to step outside of our circle and invest in the young men in our community that are on the wrong path. The catch is you must continue to mentor them beyond the game. I would never ask someone to do something that I'm not willing to do, so I am going to select a kid as well. We have to start from somewhere. The game is Wednesday and it's on a first come basis.Men our young brothers need us.Each man must select one kid.
Join us as close to 30 community organizations come together to feed 1,000 residents from the South Philadelphia community tomorrow.
