Thank you to TJ for coming out and sharing his story and reminding us of the importance of offering free classes to the residents of the 6th District. Act Now! Training in partnership with the Philadelphia Fire Foundation still has open space for our free CPR/AED certification class this Saturday, June 16th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Mayfair Recreation Center, 2901 Princeton Ave. There are also spots available for the training on Saturday, June 23rd from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4601 Richmond St. To register please call my office at 215-686-3444 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Today I met with industry leaders from Bridesburg and Port Richmond to reach agreement about how to handle the problem of short dumping along this industrial corridor of the district. Most of the time short dumpers are small contractors or residents who don’t want to take trash and debris to a City Sanitation Center or privately owned dumps. Instead of being good neighbors, they leave piles of trash, mattresses, tires, and shopping carts in front of businesses and in neighborhoods. If you see someone illegally dumping trash or debris, try to write down their license plate and report the location to my office!

Don't let the chilly weather fool you: it's almost prom season. This can be a stressful time of year for young people in our community who's families struggle to afford prom attire. That's why I'm supporting Catholic Community Services-CCS Strengthening Families, Uniting Communities Catholic Community Service's Prom Drive. You can drop off new and gently used gowns, dresses, suits, shoes, shirts, ties, jewelry, and purses for males and females now through April 20th at my Tacony office - 6730 Torresdale Avenue.
