Don't let the chilly weather fool you: it's almost prom season. This can be a stressful time of year for young people in our community who's families struggle to afford prom attire. That's why I'm supporting Catholic Community Services-CCS Strengthening Families, Uniting Communities Catholic Community Service's Prom Drive. You can drop off new and gently used gowns, dresses, suits, shoes, shirts, ties, jewelry, and purses for males and females now through April 20th at my Tacony office - 6730 Torresdale Avenue. Let's show our young people that their community cares for them.

The new ShopRite of Bridge & Harbison opens TOMORROW! This new supermarket is bringing jobs and much needed access to healthy food to our community. It was an honor to attend a luncheon today celebrating the opening of the new store. Congratulations to the Ammons Family and their staff for this big accomplishment.
Do you have an issue you need help with, but can't make it to my office in Tacony? Check out my Neighborhood Office Hours tonight at 9607 James Street.
Looking for a job? Make sure you check out the new ShopRite of Bridge & Harbison.
Another day, another clean-up. Thanks to the persistence of neighbors, coordination from my office, and the hard work of the Streets Department, this lot at the corner of Kingston and Allen has been cleared. If you are aware of any illegal dumping here or at any other location in the 6th District, please contact my office at 215-683-9220.
FYI: There will be road closures on Torresdale Avenue between Kraydor Street and Enfield Avenue and between Devereaux Avenue and Brous Avenue beginning next week.
A big thank you to the neighbors who let us know about piles of tires and debris on the 2500 block of Tioga Street, and to the Streets Department for cleaning up the area last week. Good things happen when we're vigilant and work together.
I'll be holding Neighborhood Office Hours today at the Dunkin Donuts at 2998 Welsh Road from 4pm to 7pm. If you're in the area and have a concern or need assistance, please stop by.
Do you need to access city services but can't visit my office during the day? Check out Neighborhood Office Hours. Councilman Bobby Henon shared ShopRite of Bridge & Harbison's post.
#TBT - Late last year I had the chance to visit many of our local pharmacies to discuss the importance of carrying Narcan. You can join us tonight at "kNOw Drugs In The Northeast" (7pm, 4500 Rhawn Street) to learn more about Narcan and how our community is fighting the opioid epidemic.
A member of my staff and I were out serving out community when we ran into these two four-legged friends. They got lost near Roosevelt Boulevard & Harbison Avenue. Thankfully, some fine members of the community - including a Philadelphia Water Department employee, SEPTA - iseptaphilly.com driver, and nurse - were nearby and helped us get the dogs into the car. We were able to get them both to ACCT Philly where they will hopefully be reunited with their owners. As inclement weather continues to grip our region, remember to keep an eye out for people and pets who could use help in cold and dangerous conditions.
