Philadelphia cuts the ribbon on its own "High Line" park
After years of planning and handwringing over fundraising, the first phase of Philadelphia's own " High Line," the transformation of the Reading Viaduct rail line, was opened to the public last Thursday. Although the Rail Park 's first spur is only a quarter mile long, the rail line will be twice as long and wide as New York's High Line when fully built out.

Long-awaited Rail Park opens first phase
The opening of Philadelphia 's long-awaited Rail Park means more than just a public green space. To many, it means residential development, it means commercial growth, and-possibly most importantly-it means a heightened sense of community in Philly's Center City. At least that's the takeaway city officials stressed Thursday morning during the opening of the park's first phase.

Philadelphia Rail Park: From Photoshop to reality
On a breezy, beautiful morning close to one thousand Philadelphians gathered together to inaugurate the first quarter mile of the Philadelphia Rail Park.
