Go Puff, the “General Store” at your fingertips, was founded in the City of Philadelphia and has expanded all of the United States. They are now expanding their services area to Ardmore and Bethlehem. Moreover, Go Puff has chosen Mayfair to be their hub for the Northeast, and will be setting up their storefront at 3501 Cottman Avenue. Besides the convenience provided by Go Puff, the Mayfair Business Improvement District has been working with Go Puff’s founder, Rafael Ilishayev, and the rest of his staff, to ensure a safe, quality establishment; an aesthetically-pleasing storefront; the hiring of Mayfair residents; and building a partnership with this commercial enterprise and our community on beneficial projects for Mayfair. Stay tuned for more information about the Mayfair grand-opening. This is another example of esteem in which Mayfair is held, and our Avenue will only grow and thrive as a result.

Please find the correspondence below from Joseph J. DeFelice, Esquire, Regional Director of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regarding the recent work of our Executive Director, Marc D. Collazzo, with the Veterans Thrift Shop at Friendship and Frankford Avenue (7128 Frankford Avenue): Hey buddy Not to be corny but today I was in Coatesville with Tim Williams from the veterans multiservice center tour in the VA. He was telling me about how ecstatic he was to be working with you on their property at friendship and Frankford. He was excited about you hooking with the factory donuts guys and the possibility of a veterans mural on their side wall. It was good to hear out in Chester county. Nice work. It is always nice to hear that our efforts to "Make it Mayfair" are being felt all the way in Coatesville!

"It was raining, and Jasmine Yedra carried the contents of her life in two black trash bags. She was a sophomore in high school, and she was homeless. It didn’t matter that she was a strong student at one of the state’s top high schools or that she was a gifted musician – piano, guitar, ukulele. Family and financial complications meant she was standing on the corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia with no idea what came next. Her palms began to sweat. She began to cry. Then, Yedra did what she has done for so many years: She pulled herself together and figured it out."

Amid daunting odds, Philly student shines
School has been a refuge for Jasmine Yedra. Typical teen concerns don't bother her, she said. "I had bigger problems: where am I going to sleep, what am I going to eat, where am I going to do my homework?"

How and where to get rid of your Christmas tree in Philly
The gifts have been opened, the pies have been consumed, and 2017 has come and gone-the only sign of the holidays remaining is that glorious Christmas tree. While they bring Christmas cheer to many households for a few weeks, by January they're just in the way.
