"Some 200 area homeowners aired their concerns and questions about the proposed relocation of the Ad Prima Charter School from its Frankford campus to 8034 Thouron Ave., directly across the street from the F. S. Edmonds Elementary School, during a more-than-three-hour public meeting. The session was called by the visibly angry Ninth District Councilwoman Cherelle L. Parker. She said she was never contacted by the Philadelphia School District or the charter school about the late May lease signing nor the School Reform Commission’s approval after 'public' meetings at the end of April. Parker said she only learned about this when angry homeowners and Edmonds parents contacted her office asking why they were not aware of the public meetings, open houses or relocation of the charter school to their neighborhood."

  • I was unable to attend this meeting due to a prior engagement, but would have loved to have been there. I am a long time resident of East Mt. Airy and welcome the alternative that Ad Prima adds to our neighborhood educational choices. There are some parents whose only option for educating their children is Edmonds due to the cost of private and parochial schools. Ad Prima is a Blue Ribbon School, as such a great addition to our community and an additional option for our children.
