Pastors rail against historic tag for Germantown Boys and Girls Club
In a move that neighbors called puzzling, a group of Germantown-area religious and community leaders denounced a possible historic designation for the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia, what they called a "hindrance" to plans for a new, state-of-the-art club with an ice-skating rink and music studios.

Members of my staff and I had an incredible tour of The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf this morning. Steeped in history and gearing up for its 200th anniversary in 2020, I look forward to visiting again and learning more about how we can partner in the future. Many thanks to the Head of School, Peter Bailey and his staff for their time and insight!

Which Philly-area spin studio classes are worth the hype and heavy price tag?
Huffing and puffing on a bicycle, inside a dark, windowless room - this did not sound like my idea of fun. Who would ever spend $30 to endure that torture? Yet, many people do - so many that the number of spin studios in the Philadelphia area is too long to count, with brand-new locales like South Street's Revel Ride continuing to add to the options.

"More than 70 people – parents, grandparents, teachers, educators, library staff, and residents – packed the conference room at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library, 68 W. Chelten Ave. in Germantown, on May 18 to meet with members of Mayor Kenney’s appointed Philadelphia School Board, which will replace the School Reform Commission on July 1, 2018. Attendees said the new school board needs to be more transparent, develop a master plan to implement policies to address issues, establish basic facility standards, change the current format for board meetings to include more community decision-making involvement, increase partnerships between the schools and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Department."
