On May 4, 2018 fire broke out on the 1800 block of South 22nd Street. This was a quick moving fire that completely wiped out two families and caused extreme water/ smoke damage to two additional families/homes. Several South Philly organizations are coming together on Sunday July 8 to hold a Fish Fry at the 22nd St Cafe. Tickets are $12 and 100% of the proceeds will be going to the families. This is what we are all best at - coming together to support our neighbors, I hope everyone can come out on July 8. Please contact Tracy or Dionne (see the flyer) for tickets.

City Council approves first 64 Rebuild sites: Here's what's coming! | Office of the Mayor
In early June 2018, City Council approved the first round of sites for Rebuild! Here's what that means and why that's important. Rebuild is the City's program to improve parks, rec centers, playgrounds, and libraries across Philly's neighborhoods. Most sites will be funded through bonds paid for by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.

Weather nerd time! As a cold front is making its way through the area today, a sea breeze is moving inland behind it. If you look close enough, you can make out the faint east-west oriented front on radar moving south through southern NJ and the north-south oriented sea breeze fine line moving westward and inland along and north of the front in eastern NJ. Why is this?? The wind ahead of the front is westerly which hinders the sea breeze boundary from propagating westward and inland, essentially "pushing" it toward the coast. The wind behind the front is northerly and therefore the wind is no longer "pushing" the sea breeze toward the coast. The result is the sea breeze moving inland. 🤓
