I'm sick of candlelight vigils. Sick of writing about dead young people. Sick of antiviolence marches that don't make a difference. You probably are, too. The constant onslaught of shootings takes a collective toll on our psyche. We become desensitized. But then there are cases like that of Sandrea Williams that stay with you.

Pretzels are part of the cultural fabric of Philadelphia. They are an essential at every office party, Sunday afternoon football spread, and the preferred anytime snack for kids and adults. In this round of Clean Plates' reports on inspections of city eateries, one establishment crossed a line and served up pretzels from an unknown source.

Police: West Philly triple shooting that killed girl, 17, was 'almost like a terror attack'

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday, two gunmen crept up through a driveway on the 300 block of North Simpson Street and fired “23 shots in approximately seven seconds” at a group of at least six teens hanging out near the intersection of Simpson and Carlton Streets, Ryan said.

In an interview Saturday, Sandrea’s mother, Nadia Syblis, 34, said she had been sitting on her front steps talking to an older brother when she heard the gunshots. She ran inside, then came back out after she saw someone lying on the 6400 block of Carlton, then realized it was her daughter.
