Habitat for Humanity and Eagles flock together

“More than walls and a roof overhead, let this home be a space and place where this family may grow, learn, play and thrive,” Tobey Oxholm, a board member of Habitat for Humanity’s Philly office said in leading a Litany of Dedication on the stoop of 2332 Greenwich St. in Point Breeze on Monday.

On the 2300 block of Greenwich Street, there are a good half-dozen properties that are empty lots or boarded-up empty shells of houses. The six-address parcel that HFH is finishing up came courtesy of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority.

I would like to say thank you to each and every person that attended our "Mother's of No Tomorrow" documentary and violence forum tonight. The one thing that I enjoyed the most was that the heart of the community came out 400 strong to hear a positive message , but to also voice their opinions about the things that they don't like in the community. Most forums that I attend you hear people preach to the choir , but tonight we had a chance to not only engage the community , but to also offer resources to help our community. It doesn't stop here.We were able to collect all of the contact information for everyone that attended and we will be reaching out to them to engage them on other issues. Last but not least , I would like to thank the parents of the murder victims for coming out. I thank you guys and I love you guys as well. #weareone
