Three Construction Sites on the 2200 Block of Wilder Street

Three Construction Sites on the 2200 Block of Wilder Street
A couple of readers have urged us to revisit the booming 2200 block of Wilder Street in recent weeks, but that pesky early setting sun foiled us a couple times before we could get some decent images of what's happening.

WHO DID THIS?

Someone in the 'hood throws or hurls an object using projectory device, through the window of 1841 MIFFLIN STREET, causing property damage and injury to dog that was laying near window. Shard of glass fell on the dog piercing her throat, the dog is injured. Owner says if not for blind, the object would have hit her head and killed her.. Help find the person who committed this heinous, malicious, crime. Let's not be afraid and keep ourselves safe. REWARD.

  • Barb Shalit-Simpson Resident of Zipcode 19145

The windows broken occurred on Saturday, November 26,2016 at @1 am.

  • Hi Barb,

Let us hope and pray that people in the 'hood would start respecting their neighbors and do their best to make our city live up to its name..."City of Brotherly Love." And take good care of your dog...may she make a full recovery!

    All the best,

    Joan

  • Thanks Joan. Hope and prayers are not enough. The Lord helps those that help themselves, so the saying. Thanks Joan. Hope and prayers are not enough. The Lord helps those that help themselves, so the saying. People have to choose and have solidarity with the neighbors that are respectful and be vigilant that property and life isn't jeopardized by the few that refuse to conform to standards. There's only strength in numbers. The person who has to dish out $$$ to fix the window at Xmas time isn't getting reimbursed by any group, and the thug who did it roams free because no one wants to get involved. Its all very relative when you're victim of a crime.

Neighbor says that she was at the store on the corner of 19th & Sigel streets on Saturday, Nov. 27th, late afternoon, and was needlessly harassed by one of the 6 men that were there. She said she was buying items in the back of the store and there were 3 men talking, as she walked by, one of the men that was behind the back counter said as he stared at her, 'It stinks in here' she didn't let on that she heard him and concentrated on picking out her items, as she walked up the small aisle on her way out she stopped and was looking at some other items to buy not realizing that this man who made comments in the back, was standing in front of her staring at her, he said, why don't you move, she was taken aback and said why don't you tell him to move, one of the six men who was in the store and was also blocking the aisle pathway, he continued to berate her to the other men, saying that she expected him to say excuse me; as she went on finishing her purchases, she heard him say a 'dirty white bi**ch', and couldn't help telling him that she wished he wasn't speaking about her, and then told him to stop talking to her, he continued and she left and traded insults as he called her a 'dirty white bi**ch' and more.
Is this a crime? Racial Harassment, Intimidation, at the local grocery store by thugs who frequent the store? the store owner should have stepped in but he didn't. Maybe he's being strong armed by this gang of bullies.
Neighborhood News and Talk?
Co-incidental that this neighbor's house window was broken several hours after the incident by an object hurled through her front bay window causing hundreds in damages.
Ah....living in zip19145...such an eclectic neighbor'hood.

Ringgold Street Getting In On the Act in Point Breeze
As the years have rolled along and Point Breeze has gotten more and more attractive to developers, we've seen heretofore ignored blocks get unexpected attention. We've spilled a ton of (proverbial) ink discussing the southern spread of construction as lots closer to Washington Avenue have become more scarce and more expensive.
