ATTEMPTED burglary on 2200 Block of Montrose.

Through the northwest alleyway (between Montrose/Christian and 22nd/23rd), individual(s) quietly removed back wooden gate. Then carefully moved chairs to climb up to window to either squeeze through or unlock back door while we were visibly in the house. Police tips: leave lights on, lock doors and windows.

Without Remediation, Diamond In The Rough A Risky Play
Editor's Note: Since Europeans settled here, Philadelphia's rivers have been objects of contention, between industry and recreation. Today, the conflict continues, and heightens, as oil and gas industry investors position the city as an "energy hub" and planners seek to build a string of quality public spaces along both the Schuylkill and Delaware riverbanks.

So Long, Summer: Philly Pools Are Already Closing
It feels like just yesterday we told you Philly public pools were open. And now, two months after swimming season kicked off, we're lamenting its end. It might seem early (it always does,) but Parks and Rec started shutting down public pools on August 11th, and by Friday, they'll all be closed.
    http://www.phillymag.com

  • I think the pools are a great amenity. We are lucky to have Ridgeway in our neighborhood. But I don't understand why they close them every year at the very peak of the season. It's going to be broiling hot for at least another month.

  • The lifeguards have had to go back to school. It is a shame the pools have to close before Labor Day, unlike they did years ago; but without lifeguards, the City has no choice.
