RE: street closings

The signs were posted Friday afternoon that the street would reclose
for street work. I am aware that most people don't walk up and down
Cedar Ave looking for sign (s) posted on pole. After the fiasco on this street
last Monday Sept 8, 2014 i thought posting the street closing message might
be helpful..Last week they came through the neighborhood at 6:20am with

The signs were posted Friday afternoon that the street would reclose
for street work. I am aware that most people don't walk up and down
Cedar Ave looking for sign (s) posted on pole. After the fiasco on this street
last Monday Sept 8, 2014 i thought posting the street closing message might
be helpful..Last week they came through the neighborhood at 6:20am with
bull horn telling people to move cars or have them towed..This is a terrible
way to be awakened and the city allowed this private contractor to do this.
They towed about 15 cars from the 5900 block and more from 5800 block
of Cedar Ave. If the City were for us we should have received notices months
ago about this pending work but they are not working with us only the contractors
who don't care. The truck brigade begins at 7:00 AM whether the streets completely
cleared or not. So please be careful . Last week with all congestion I called
911 to ask for assistance in block, operator asked were signs posted i said YES
however most folks don't walk up and down street looking for signs to be
posted,,her response to me was "Oh Well,, when I asked for a Supervisor
she put me on indefinite hold. When I say it was a dangerous situation
here last Monday it was..I do not wish to see a repeat of that again this week.

I made 8 calls on Friday trying to find out reason for street closings and could not get an answer. This morning saw over 15 cars being towed.. Sorry to see that.
Most people do not walk up and down their street looking for notices posted on poles.
City or contractors need do better job notifying neighbors when such
important work is scheduled..

  • That's terrible. And unacceptable. We finally get them to do the upkeep and this is how they alert people? What, are they using the PPA fines for tickets and towing to pay for the replacing? Ugh. I hope your vehicle was spared.
