    Posted on 19 December 2015 A 20-year-old man was shot in the chest and wounded overnight near 52nd and Spruce. Police were patrolling the area at around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday when they heard 8-10 gunshots coming from 52nd and Spruce. When they approached the intersection they saw a male with a handgun, according to a police report.

Two hurt, one killed in separate city shootings

Earlier Saturday, about 12:40 a.m., the sound of gunfire drew officers to the intersection of 52nd and Spruce streets in West Philadelphia. They encountered a man holding a handgun and ordered him to drop the weapon, but he ran about 20 feet east and threw it underneath a parked car, police said.

In Kingsessing, a 23-year-old man was shot once each in his neck, back, and shoulder along the 5500 block of Belmar Street shortly after 11 a.m., police said.

Officers were shortly before 2 a.m. called to the 7900 block of Bustleton Avenue in Rhawnhurst for a report of a shooting. They found a 33-year-old man lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and legs.
