KAPPAROT (Daughters of Disruption): 2016 Fringe review 74

[The Art Church of West Philadelphia, 5219 Webster Street] September 15-17, 2016; fringearts.com/kapparot.

KAPPAROT (Daughters of Disruption): 2016 Fringe review 74
In the Art Church, a house of a theater with carpeted stairs and a open room set with rows of chairs, performer collaborators Chana Rothman and Annie Lewis greeted the audience with a warm proposition: to join in. Sourced in Jewish tradition, the duo explored scapegoating, speaking openly of their own struggles.

Just bought house on Webster, totally over the Blue Nile bar that was shot up in June and the beer place, and the Chinese Takeout place robbed last month. Any ideas?

Welcome to the neighborhood! Do you have a block association & captain? I feel like they would know what to do. There's 311 - you can call to file complaints or go to the website & see if any of the complaint requests apply to those establishments. I've use 311 a few times in the past to complain about illegal dumping, vacant lots & residential buildings that are bringing down the curb appeal of the neighborhood. All have been handled, except for the last one I mentioned which is pending. The Cobbs Creek Community Association meetings are held the 1st Monday of the month at the library on 58th & Baltimore. Have you spoken to your neighbors about these places? Also, you can write to your city council representative.

  • You may want to sit in on the meetings at the 18th police district and bring your concerns up there. We are in service area 2 on Webster St. and it looks like the next meeting for our area is next week.

You can also track crime details on Spot Crime if this is an ongoing concern of yours. This is something many people do prior to purchasing homes in neighborhoods that are new to them so they can gauge if they will be comfortable in the area, but it's never too late to be informed. https://www.spotcrime.com

You're also welcome to join us at our monthly community meetings at the Cobbs Creek Library.
