Detective is challenged on authenticity of 1991 rape-murder confession

Wright's attorneys now allege that detectives lied when they said they found the clothing at Wright's mother's house in the 1900 block of Brunner Street in Nicetown. Wright's mother testified at his 1993 trial that detectives removed no clothing from her house.

Nevertheless, Assistant District Attorney Bridget Kirn told the jury in her opening statement Wednesday that the evidence would prove that Wright sexually assaulted Talley and then stabbed her to death inside her house in the 3900 block of Nice Street.

Nicetown shooting leaves man in critical condition

Police were told that the shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Rowan Street, but officers could find no evidence of shooting at that location, Small said.

    A 38-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot Tuesday night in Philadelphia's Nicetown section, police said. Just after 9:40 p.m., the victim was shot in the chest, back, and legs, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The man was taken by private automobile to Einstein Medical Center.

    PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police are investigating a murder in Germantown. They say someone shot a 27-year-old man on the 1900 block of Rowan Street. Authorities say the victim managed to stagger half of a block before collapsing. Officers rushed him to Temple Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
