On Tuesday, December 1, Empowerment Group is hosting the “My Block, My Business” Celebration/Announcement Party. The party marks the end of the “My Block, My Business” Advertising Competition, where Philadelphia small business owners compete for $2,600 of free SEPTA advertising during Entrepreneurship Week 2010. For the competition, Empowerment Group asked local entrepreneurs to answer “Why Philadelphia?” by writing about their businesses’ contributions to their blocks. After receiving applications from all over the city, Empowerment Group staff narrowed the competition down to four finalists. The event, held at World Café Live, will feature the competition’s four finalists sharing their stories with the audience and a panel of guest judges, including celebrated entrepreneur and founder of World Café Live, Hal Real.
